Skin education is so important and we love learning all the tips and tricks on how to have healthier skin. But sometimes you just need to start with the basics. Here are 5 simple steps to get your skin on it's way to flawless!

Do not pick at your pimples

Popping pimples can actually make your acne problems worse. When you touch your face you are transferring bacteria from your fingers to your face, which can cause clogged pores. Clogged pores = more acne. On top of that, when you pick a pimple, you are going to scar!

Do not over exfoliate or over use products

It can cause irritated, dry or red skin and make your skin look worse. Make sure to read the directions on the packaging or follow the instructions your esthetician provided. Exfoliate only 2-3 times a week and if you're only supposed to use a retinol or serum a few times a week per the instructions, trust that there is a reason for it!

Makeup belongs on your face and not your pillow

So let’s have a bonding moment and agree that we all have something in common. Yes, we all have gone to bed at least once and left our makeup on because we were so tired. By doing this you’re preventing your skin from breathing and your pores are being clogged. Take those extra few minutes and use a gentle cleanser to wash all the dirt and makeup away.

Never leave the house without sunscreen

Prolonged UV exposure can make skin age and wrinkle faster, and cause and worsen dark marks. UVA rays can penetrate clouds and windows, and hit your skin, causing premature aging and sun damage. Sunscreen is the best defense in anti-aging and you should never skip this step of your regimen. Try DermShield All Day Sun Protection Mattifying Moisturizer SPF 30.

Great skin really does come from within

If great skin your goal you want to make sure you eat a balanced diet, get enough sleep, and try to avoid stress. Try to drink at least six to eight glasses of water a day. Make a conscious effort to eat better and make smart choices from the inside out, it will be beneficial to your overall health.
